A Poetic Intervention
A project by Sabina Holzer in collaboration with Elisabeth Schäfer & different hords
Which deaths do we mourn? Which lifes do we seek for? These two questions are strangely intertwined.
Mourning transforms the place of loss into a productive witnessing of a void – which can become the starting point of a new, different community, a new, different practice to speak, write, perform, think etc. – Or as Judith Butler puts it:
Perhaps mourning has to do with the fact that one is prepared to go through a change […] the whole result of which one cannot know in advance.“
In [hmm] – howls & murmurs for endangered futures we not only want to give the all too often forgotten endangered futures a voice, which would be a more or less human voice. We want to invite the voices of endangered species, human and non-human co-inhabitants of this planet, to our throats to develop a posthuman choir of howls & murmurs and ∞ ∞ ∞
∞ howl like wolves, across spaces, across all distances and differences;
∞ sing like cats, like whales or other creatures reaching out in kinship and solidarity with endangered species (including those to which we belong to all over the world), while tracing this unease with the exploitations and consequences of predacious capitalism;
We want to
∞ to give space and community to the sadness and hope that sings on the edges of language;
∞ to murmur in strange, unrelated, still convinced sounds and conjure up for sustainable futures together.
