PAUL SERNINE & MISS COOCHIE
A fictionautic enterprise

I
nterventions and films in public spaces, exhibitions and theaters
by Jack Hauser and Sabina Holzer.

Paul Sernine & Miss Coochie appeared the first time in summer 2005. They are agents of the
fantastic and put coups into everyday life in the service of poetry.
As they follow traces of fictions, they travel through time.
They like to exchange and negotiate individual and pulp fictions.
They appear in different places and for various occasions.
Are they real, or fiction? Their origin is uncertain, although it is evident in films
and mythologies of pop culture: Paul Sernine – Arsene Lupin – Lemmy Caution – Zigomar –
Fantômas – Miss Coochie – Catwoman – Modesty Blaise – Emma Peel – Irma Vep
They follow this strange plan of Jean Genet: To dream oneself, to make this dream tangible in
order to become a dream in other people.

miss coochie woman of uncouth men remembers how terrified she was when she looked
back at the abandoned shore she had been stolen from by the white bull.
her clothes fluttering, winding, behind her in the breeze.
bite your tongue and lean in close
for those who survive must learn mathematics.
she is awake now in the glowing east, opens wide her bright doors and her rose-filled courts.
for you who she loves.
the stars, whose ranks are shepherded by lucifer vanish for a daily day.
watch out. cross borders with no illusions.
welcome guests and accept spirits with such a greeting as to fit the candle for its flame.
not so far from the desert comes a memory, a cat, a brightness, a shining amber, a river,
a moon covered in black, a note for the future.
wilderness between pricks out with miraculous spring.

notes for the future from the desert.
there could be a gun in her warm hand.
